Frequently Asked Questions

We continue to follow Covid-19 guidelines and have made some changes to make sure that everyone who visits, works and volunteers in and around our museums and attractions can enjoy their day safely.

We hope we’ve answered all your questions but if there is anything else you would like to know before your visit, please do get in touch.

Q

Do I need to book online before I visit?

A

It isn't necessary to book online before you visit. However, if you are visiting as part of a large group or are interested in purchasing boat trip tickets for a number of people, we advise ringing ahead to check availability.

Q

What safety measures have you put in place regarding coronavirus?

A

Masks are encouraged, but not mandatory. We have regular cleaning and sanitisation in place to keep everyone safe. We have installed hand sanitising stations throughout the museum, to allow visitors to keep their hands clean and these are clearly signed.

Q

Are you supporting the NHS Track and Trace Service?

A

We are supporting the NHS Track and Trace initiative and visitors are able to download the NHS Test and Trace app before visiting in order to scan the code on arrival. For our visitors without smartphones, there is an alternative way to record your details but to support the NHS, we would urge you to follow the app.

This is in line with other organisations in the sector together with restaurants, bars and hotels. For more information please visit our Privacy Policy.

Q

Will you be checking people’s temperature before they enter the museum?

A

No, based on the current government guidance and advice, we won’t be checking people's temperature.

Q

Are the volunteers back?

Yes, our amazing team of volunteers are back. We are also recruiting new volunteers to join the team and invite you to find out more here or by talking to a member of the team during your visit.

A

Yes, the toilets are open.

Q

Is the tea room open for food and drinks?

A

Yes, our lovely tea room is open offering sit-in and takeaway refreshments with seating available indoors and outdoors.

Q

Is the gift shop open?

Q

Can I pay with cash?

A

We are happy to accept any type of payment, but we would prefer contactless card payments.

Q

Can I use the interactives?

A

Yes, you can use the interactives, but we would ask you to sanitise your hands before and after use. You will find sanitiser stations across the site.

Q

Is the boat trip operating?

A

Our boat trips will be operating this year, starting in April! Visit the boat trips page to find out everything you need to know about getting on board.

Q

Will you be holding any events or activities during the school holidays?
