The idyllic location of Drakeholes is on the Chesterfield Canal and is a Site of Special Scientific Interest - this means it's a fantastic place to be at one with nature and spot some wildlife.
It is also part of the Chesterfield Canal that has also been awarded a prestigious Green Flag award, meaning it has been judged to be amongst the best green spaces in the UK! Check out the tunnel where boats had to be 'legged' through before the days of the engine.

Picnic spot:
This is definately one place for a perfect picnic with benches around the site or bring a rug for a picnic on the grass. Please note, there are no public toilets on site.
Wildlife spotting:
If you want to feed the ducks and coots remember to take them healthy treats as bread is bad for them.
The Chesterfield Canal is a Site of Special Scientific Interest - which means it's really special for wildlife, in this case the aquatic sort!
