Due to the ongoing investigation and works on the leak currently being carried on this section between Lock 1 and Lock 4. A further leak on the bywash has also been found. This will prolong the repairs as this new issue also needs to be fixed too. These further repairs will take a few more weeks to undertake. We will update the notice when further information on the progress of the repairs are received.

Due to the investigation works for the leak still ongoing, there is still no passage through Lock 1 to Lock 4. Works will be continuing through next week too. As soon as we receive any further information, we will update the notice.

Unfortunately, the 'one day' only boat passage that was going to occur on the Friday 20th June is cancelled. The stretch from Lock 5 to Lock 16 is currently closed, so there is no boat movement past Lock 5 and the section between Lock 4 and Lock 1 is still closed due to carrying out the leak inspection works too. Permitting, the improvement of water levels and the progress of the leak inspection works, volunteers are hoping that they will be able to offer the 'one day only - time window' on the Friday 27th June instead. We will update the notice with further timings if this arrangement is able to go ahead before the 26th June.

As part of our ongoing investigations, the pound between Locks 1 and 4 will be refilled for a short period of time. This allows us the opportunity to facilitate boat passage through Tuel Lane Locks on Friday 20th June only between 10:00AM to 3:00PM
Volunteers will be in attendance on-site between 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM to provide assistance.
The closure will remain after Friday until we have further investigation results and we can plan a repair, we aim to update this notice by Friday 27th June.

As part of our ongoing investigations, the pound between Locks 1 and 4 will be refilled over the course of the weekend.
While water is present in the pound, we will take this opportunity to facilitate boat passage through the closure on Monday, 9th June only.
Volunteers will be in attendance on-site between 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM to provide assistance.
The closure will remain after Monday until we have investigation results and we can plan a repair, we aim to update this notice by Friday 13th June

Due to a further improvement in water levels with the installation of the pump at Lock 16, we are happy to be able to reopen the section of the navigation from the pound above Lock 4 to Lock 24. The lower section of the Rochdale Canal from Lock 4 to Lock 1 will still remain closed. Water levels in this section are being carefully managed as we are undertaking investigations into the cause of a leak above Lock 2. Tuel Lane Lock will still remain closed to passage. The team will continue to monitor the water levels closely and on the outcome of the investigative works and any further repairs that may need to take place, the notice will be updated accordingly.

The canal remains closed at the moment. In the last week we lost water in the pound above lock 6, due to paddles being left open, and this pound has not yet recovered.
We have installed a pump at lock 16 which is improving the water levels down to lock 8, but this is not yet navigable.
Meanwhile we are conducting further investigations at pound 2 to try to identify and resolve the cause of a leak.
As soon as we get more information, we will update this notice.

We are continuing to closely monitor the water levels, which have yet to recover. The route remains unnavigable and will stay closed between Lock 1 and Lock 24. We will provide a further update by Friday 23rd May.

This stretch of the canal is not currently navigable due to low water levels. This notice will be reviewed and lifted once the levels have recovered.
