Works are progressing well at Lock 7 on the Glasson branch of the Lancaster Canal.

Once the walkway replacement is complete, we will arrange for engineers to conduct testing before bringing the lock back into service.

A further update will be provided on Friday 25 April.

Please be advised Lock 7 on the Glasson Branch of the Lancaster Canal remains closed to navigation due to a mechanical fault with the winding drum, which operates the lock gates.

Our contractors have successfully removed the mechanism that controls the head gate, and refurbishment work is underway. We aim to reinstall the spindle by mid-April.

In conjunction with this, we are also upgrading the safety walkways on the lock gates. With both projects aligned and progressing as scheduled, we anticipate navigation will resume by mid-April.

We will provide a further update on Friday, 11 April.
