Update 09/05/2025 15:57

The delivery of the specialist timber required for the ongoing works has been delayed and is now expected to arrive next week. As a result, the completion of the repairs has been pushed back, and Lock 7 will remain closed until the end of May.

We understand this may be disappointing, and our teams will continue to explore every opportunity to accelerate the programme and reduce the delay, where possible.

A further update on the progress of the repairs will be provided on Friday, 23 May.

Update 01/05/2025 09:44

Works are continuing to progress well at Lock 7 on the Glasson branch of the Lancaster Canal.

Our contractors are due on site this week to install the safety handrails and once completed the walk ways will be re installed.

Once the walkways are reinstalled the engineers will be able to conduct testing and our current plan is to bring the lock back into use by Friday 16 May, this is subject to the specialist timber required for the repair arriving on time.

A further update on how the repairs are progressing will be provided on Friday 9 May.
