Following on from our last update, we have since been informed the third party works have been experiencing delays in completing the works. They will therefore, need to extend this towpath closure to Friday 2 May 2025.

Please be advised third-party contractors will be onsite between Lock 2 and Lock 3 on the Ashton Canal to install a new cycle-bridge over the Ashton Canal, adjacent to Lock 3.
These works will commence from Friday 7 June through until Friday 22 November 2024.
To be able to maintain a safe working environment, the towpath will be closed during these works, a diversion route will be in place.
Whilst this will not impact on canal navigation, we politely request all customers to approach the area with caution and to listen to any advice that may be given by the third-party contractors onsite.
