Updates

12/10/2022 18:16

Following from our previous update, we have been able to retain enough water to re-open Stockton Flight, summit and Leek branch.

Navigation will resume from Monday 17 October, 8am. This is only confirmed until 3rd November, so please look out for a further update before then.

Please be advised that Hazelhurst lock remains closed. Further information about the Project and the notice can be found below:

https://canalrivertrust.org.uk/notices/22952-bridge-37-hazelhurst-bridge-caldon-canal

We have also had to close the section from Hazelhurst to Froghall Basin in order to manage water resources and the vital supply to the Trent & Mersey. Further information can be found here:

Description

Whilst recent rainfall has been welcome, the impact of the unprecedented dry period over the spring and summer on our reservoirs means we are not yet in a position to reopen the Caldon Canal to navigation.

We're keeping the situation under regular review, and will update you as soon as we're able.
