Contractors are working on the Gas Pipe Bridge, to refurbish the iron pipework. The pipe bridge will be scaffolded, and fully encapsuled to protect the boat and towpath users from the grit blasting operation and application of a new protective coating. The headroom over the canal, with be reduced to 2.7m and 2.4m above the towpath. Furthermore the towpath width will be restricted to 2.0m
We ask canal and towpath users to approach the area with care and to follow any instruction by marshals present during the works. A pontoon has been permitted within the canal to support the erection and demobilisation.
