Description
Original 24 October 2026, 9:33am
| A 60 ft narrowboat has sunk on the riverside approach to West Stockwith Lock (Lock 65).
The lock is closed to navigation until further notice due to the potential risk of vessels colliding with the sunken craft when leaving the river and entering the lock gates.
Vessels must also not moor on the risers on the riverside, upstream side of the lock. At high tide, a vessel moored in this location could be positioned directly above the sunken craft. As the tide falls, this could create a risk of the vessel coming into contact with or becoming caught on the submerged boat.
The situation will be reviewed on Monday morning, and a further update will be provided following the review.
