Contractors will attend the site on Monday 19th October to remove the tree.

Customers should approach the area with care and travel past the tree is only possible for narrowboats. Wide beam vessels are unable to pass until the tree is removed.

Update 8 October 2026, 11:57am

Since our previous update branches of the tree have been cut back making navigation possible for narrowboats only. Customers are advised to proceed with care and navigation past the tree. Wide beam vessels will not be able to pass.

In the meantime, our contractors are arranging for the specialist equipment required for the removal of the tree and planning a safe method of access to site.

A further update will be provided on or before Thursday 15 October.

Update 6 October 2026, 4:28pm

Since our last update our contractors have attended site and found that the tree is larger than antipated.

Original 30 September 2026, 11:40am

Navigation is currently closed at Bridge 127 on the Lancaster Canal due to a fallen tree which is obstructing navigation.

Contractors have been instructed to attend the site and carry out the necessary works to safely remove the tree.

An update will be provided on or before Tuesday 6 October.
