Please be aware that we will be putting in place a temporary navigation closure due to low water levels, between Lock 23, Stoke Hammond Lock and Lock 26, Three Locks, from 9:00am on Monday 21st September until 9:00am on Tuesday 22nd September.
This issue has arisen suddenly, and the significant volume of boat traffic currently moving through this section is impacting our ability to recover and stabilise water levels.
We are therefore introducing this short closure to provide an opportunity for water levels to recover. During the closure, we will also be ashing up the lock gates to help reduce water loss and improve retention.
We hope that these measures, together with the temporary reduction in boat movements, will allow water levels to recover sufficiently for us to reopen the navigation as planned on Tuesday morning.
We appreciate your understanding and patience while we manage this developing situation and work to protect the navigation during the current period of reduced water availability.
