Additional brickwork has been identified within the canal and specialist contractor support is required to make the area safe.
Arrangements are currently being made for these works to take place. The navigation will remain closed while this activity is completed.
We will provide a further update on or before Wednesday 30 September, or sooner if the works are completed ahead of schedule.

Our reactive team are hoping to attend site this week to remove the loose brickwork from the canal. Once this work has been completed, it is anticipated that the navigation will be safe to reopen.
We are currently awaiting confirmation of the exact start date for the works and will provide a further update as soon as more information becomes available.

Dunstall Bridge
Please be advised that the navigation is currently closed following a bridge strike. The offside parapet of the bridge has been damaged and is now leaning towards the canal. Due to the condition of the structure and the potential risk to passing boats and customers, the navigation has been closed as a precaution. Please do not attempt to pass beneath the bridge while the closure is in place. The bridge is being assessed by our engineers and the navigation will remain closed until the structure has been made safe. A further update will be provided as soon as more information is available. We apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your patience.
