From our last update, our team have carried out a further inspection of the footbridge providing access to the offside Lock gate at Lock 61.
During the inspection of the footbridge, the team have found that the extent of the wood rot is too severe for the footbridge to be safely repaired. As a result, a new footbridge will be required. Our team are planning a designs for a new replacement footbridge, we will confirm the date of installation once designs have been approved.
All boaters will only be able to use the nearside lock gate when passing through the lock.
A further update will be provided on or before Thursday, 8 October.

Navigation is currently restricted at Lock 61 on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal due to the deteriorated condition of the footbridge that provides access to the offside lock gate. As a result, boaters will only be able to use the nearside lock gate when passing through the lock.
Our teams have carried out an initial inspection and identified wood rot. We are now developing a repair plan and making arrangements to attend site to undertake the necessary repairs.
A further update will be provided on or before Friday, 11 September.
