Addler and Allan will be on site this morning, 21/08/26, to finalise the clean up. This will hopefully allow the canal to be reopened this afternoon, withstanding any unforeseen complications.

The contractor is currently progressing the clean up well. This is not yet complete. As of today we do not have an estimated date when the canal will reopen.

Please note that a contractor has begun containment and clean up in the area, relating to the pollution caused by the fire. The clean up will be completed as soon as possible.

Due to the incident that occurred over the weekend the closure will remain in place until a solution can be implemented. Thank you for your patience.

Due to a boating incident below Bridge 176, Springwell Lane, there is now a Navigation Closure between lock 83, Springwell Lock and Bridge 176C , until further notice. This will be reviewed tomorrow. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.
