Water levels in the Skipton pound above Bingley 5-rise continue to struggle and we are unable to re-open passage through Bingley 5&3 rise at this time. Navigation will therefore remain closed until Monday 17th August 2026 when the position will be re-evaluated. We will provide a further update no later than 4pm on Monday 17th August 2026.

Water levels continue to struggle at Bingley 3&5 rise and all locks within the affected area will remain closed. This will be re-evaluated on Wednesday 12th August 2026, with a further update provided by 4pm on this day. Once levels have recovered sufficiently for navigation to re-open, we will be revising our operating schedule for these locks to preserve water and extend navigation as long as possible. We are currently working through scenarios of what this looks like and will advise in due course.

Low Water Levels
Due to the continued dry weather, we are experiencing low water levels on this section of the canal.
Our teams are monitoring the situation closely and taking steps to manage available water resources where possible.
We will reassess water levels on Monday 10 August, and this notice will be reviewed and updated by 12:00 noon.
