Please could boaters be aware that a crane will be lifting turbines from a vessel in the canal onto the truck stop at Whitley. Pontoons will be in the water along with the vessel. These are expected to be craned into the water and with the main lifting operations from the vessel on Friday 28th August and pontoons lifted back out after the lift.

Due to shipping delays the vessel cannot unload at the Truck Stop until Wednesday next week. The pontoons will be removed by Thursday following the lift.

We have been advised by the marine contractors that the lift may be delayed until Sunday 23rd August. This is due to delays with delivery from overseas. This notice has been extended until 16:00 on Monday, 24th August, any further updates will be communicated here.

These are expected to be craned into the water on Thursday 20th, with the main lifting operations from the vessel on Friday 21st, and pontoons lifted back out on Saturday 22nd'.

Please follow the Contractors instructions. Boaters and public using the towpath may have to wait for 30 minutes to be allowed to get past safely during the critical moving times.
