Description

Original 6 August 2026, 12:53pm

Please be advised that a tree has fallen from the towpath side of the canal and is currently obstructing the towpath and partially obstructing the navigation.

The fallen tree is blocking the towpath, with a large section lying across the route. The impact has also caused damage to the towpath surface, with part of the bank and towpath edge being pushed into the canal.

Navigation remains restricted but passable, and boaters are asked to proceed with caution when passing the affected area. Towpath users should be aware that the route is currently blocked and should avoid the area where possible.

Our operatives have attended the site and confirmed the extent of the obstruction. Due to the size of the tree and the associated damage to the towpath, specialist contractor assistance is required to safely remove the tree and assess any further repairs that may be necessary.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank all customers for their patience while arrangements are made to resolve the issue.
