River Stort Navigation Update – Temporary Lock Closures   Due to exceptionally low water levels on the River Stort, the following locks will be closed until Monday 3rd August.    Please note that these locks will not be unlocked during daylight hours over this period.

  • Lock 12 – Hunsdon Mill Lock
  • Lock 13 – Roydon Lock
  • Lock 14 – Brick Lock
  • Lock 15 – Lower Lock

Current water levels are very low as a result of the prolonged dry weather and there is now very limited capacity to draw additional water from upstream.   This is a temporary measure, introduced to help conserve water and protect navigation while water availability remains reduced.    The closures will remain in place only for as long as necessary and we will continue to monitor conditions closely.   We will review water levels over the weekend and provide a further update on this notice on  Monday, 3 August.   Thank you for your cooperation and understanding during this period of exceptionally low water levels.
