Please be advised that due to the continued low water levels, the Hertford Union Canal closure has been extended. This is to help our ongoing efforts to manage the water levels across the wider network and to maintain navigational Safety. The situation will be reviewed on Thursday, 24 September and a further update will be provided at that time. We appreciate your continued patience and understanding during this period.

Please be advised that due to the continued low water levels, the Hertford Union Canal closure has been extended. The situation will be reviewed on Friday, 21 August and a further update will be provided at that time. We appreciate your continued patience and understanding during this period.

Update 3 August 2026, 10:20am

Please be advised due to the continued low water levels, we have extended the closure on the Hertford Union Canal. We will review this on Wednesday 5th August. We appreciate your continued patience and understanding during this time.

As part of our ongoing efforts to manage and recover water levels across the wider network, a navigation closure is necessary on the Hertford Union Canal between Top Lock, Lock 1 and Bottom Lock, Lock 3 on the Hertford Union Canal.      Whilst we understand that closures can be disruptive, this action is being taken to help safeguard the network and support future navigation.    We will close the navigation at 15:00 on Thursday 30th July and we will review the navigation conditions on Monday 3rd August and provide a further update.    We appreciate your patience and understanding during this time.
