Castleford Flood Lock to Bullholme Lock - Moorings update

Over the coming weeks, the Trust will be implementing a new mooring regime on the Castleford Cut between Castleford Flood Lock and Bullholme Lock.   Working in partnership with Castleford Boatyard the moorings will be changed as follows:  

• The commercial laying moorings next to Bullhome Lock will be reduced in length and remain for use by these moorings are intended to be used by working freight boats only.
• The existing section dedicated to visitor moorings will now be closer to move downstream towards Bullholme Lock
• The section resulting mooring space between Castleford Boatyard and the new visitor moorings (i.e. those either side of the former coal shute) will become long-term leisure moorings, managed by Castleford Boatyard directly
• The moorings managed by Waterside Moorings will be unaffected
• The moorings adjacent to the Oil Storage Depot will be used for occasional use, controlled by Castleford Boatyard
• The moorings for the Customer Service Facilities remain unaffected

  Signage will be provided to clearly delineate each section   Castleford Boatyard will be working alongside the Trust to monitor boats mooring in the area.   The above has been approved in principle by the Trust's navigational advisory group and freight steering group board and will run as a pilot for 12 months.
