Description

Original 21 July 2026, 5:43pm

Claydon Locks 17 to 21 Lock Flight   Navigation Availability Restricted   Reservoir holdings feeding the Oxford Canal are lower than normal for the time of year. This is a result of the ongoing dry weather.   To make the most of the available water we are reducing the opening times at Claydon Lock Flight from Tuesday 28th July with last entry to the flight at 2pm.   The flight will be open 7 days a week.   Opening time is 10am   Last boat into the flight at 2pm   Flight cleared by 3pm as will then be locked     The aim of this restriction is to reduce water demand and to try and allow water levels to recover, which will mean that there will be more water available for daytime journeys.   We would encourage all boaters to try and conserve water as much as possible by reducing their use of the locks to between 10am and 4pm daily between now and the start of the restricted opening times.   The situation is being continually monitored and reviewed and will provide updates to our customers as this situation develops."
