Description
Original 15 July 2026, 3:25pm
Planned works to replace the gates at the offside Lock 90B at Dean Lock on the Wigan Flight on the Leeds and Liverpool Canal, have taken longer than originally planned and our team continue to be onsite until 4.30pm on Friday 31 July to complete the works.
Although this lock is inoperable, the existing gates have deteriorated substantially, and removal is necessary before they become unsafe.
We will be installing gates that match the original historic design, sourced from another lock in the region.
Please note that this is a paired lock, and navigation will be maintained throughout the works. The lock itself will remain inoperable after the works are completed; the purpose of this activity is to preserve the structure due to its value as a historic feature.
Thank you for your patience while we carry out these essential works.
