Please be advised the temporary beam is still in place. The lock remains open, but please note: Operating the gate: The temporary beam is shorter than the original, so the gate will feel heavier. Fully equalise the water level before operating. Entering and exiting: The beam has prominent bolt fixings and overhangs slightly into the chamber when open. Navigate slowly and keep your craft clear. Thank you for your co-operation.

A temporary repair has been made to the balance beam on the top gate (towpath side) at Lock 23, Stoke Hammond. The lock remains open, but please note: Operating the gate: The temporary beam is shorter than the original, so the gate will feel heavier. Fully equalise the water level before operating. Entering and exiting: The beam has prominent bolt fixings and overhangs slightly into the chamber when open. Navigate slowly and keep your craft clear.
