Description

Original 14 July 2026, 3:55pm

The following locks on the River Stort will be closed daily from 3pm until 9:00am:

  • Lock 12 Hunsdon Mill Lock

  • Lock 13 Roydon Lock

  • Lock 14 Brick Lock

  • Lock 15 Lower Lock

Water levels below Hunsdon are now very low, due to the on-going weather conditions, and there is little capacity to drawn down from upstream. Therefore, starting tonight we will lock up overnight – from 3pm until 9am – at Hunsdon, Roydon, Brick and Lower locks, until levels begin to recover. We will re-assess each morning.

Please note that this is a temporary closure, introduced to help conserve water and protect the navigation during the current period of reduced water availability. The restriction will remain in place only for as long as necessary and we will continue to monitor conditions closely.   We appreciate your patience, understanding and continued support as we take these necessary steps to protect the navigation and support our boating community during this period of exceptionally low water levels.
