Due to the ongoing dry weather, the navigation is now closed between Long Eaton Lock 61 and Hallam Fields Lock 66 due to low water levels. Passage through the locks is not possible while the team carry out water control.

We will update this notice once we have further information.

Water levels remain low between Pastures Lock 64 and Hallam Fields Lock 66, and this section of the navigation remains closed to normal navigation while we continue to monitor conditions. To support access to Langley Mill Boatyard, we can arrange assisted passage through the affected section. If you need to travel to or from the boatyard, please contact our East Midlands customer service team: * Telephone: 0303 040 4040 (select options 1, 2, then 5) * Email: [email protected] Our team is available Monday to Friday, 8am to 4.30pm. To help us plan these movements safely and efficiently, please provide as much notice as possible when requesting a passage. However, we will do our best to accommodate requests wherever we can. We will provide further updates as the situation develops.

Water levels remain low between Stanton Lock 65 and Hallam Fields Lock 66, therefore this section of the navigation is still closed. Water levels have recovered above and below this pound and are now navigable. We will update this notice when we have further information.

Update 9 July 2026, 2:28pm

This closure has now been extended down to Long Eaton Lock 61. The prolonged dry weather and lack of rainfall means we are struggling with low water levels. Please do not navigate this stretch until levels have recovered. We will update this notice when we have further information.

Due to further low water levels this closure has been extended down to Sandiacre Lock 63. Please do not navigate this stretch until water levels have recovered. We will update this notice when we have further information.

Due to further low water levels this closure has been extended down to Greens Lock 68. Please do not navigate this stretch until water levels have recovered. We will update this notice when we have further information.

The navigation is currently closed between Stenson's Lock 71 and Shipley Lock 72 due to low water levels. Passage through the locks is not possible while the team carry out water control. It may take a few days for the levels to come back up. We will update this notice once we have further information.
