The towpath remains closed between Lock 65 and Oldham Road Bridge (A62) on the Rochdale Canal due to a damaged third-party wall.
Third-party contractors are currently on site carrying out repairs.
We kindly ask all customers to follow the signed diversion and take extra care when passing through the area.
A further update will be provided on or before Wednesday 29 July.
Update 8 July 2026, 3:38pm
The towpath remains closed between Lock 65 and Oldham Road Bridge (A62) on the Rochdale Canal due to a damaged third-party wall.
Our teams are now working with the third-party contractors to schedule the required repair works however, a date has not yet been confirmed.
We kindly ask all customers to follow the signed diversion and take extra care when passing through the area.

Third-party contractors will be on site between Lock 65 and Oldham Road Bridge (A62) on the Rochdale Canal to allow necessary repair works to a boundary wall that is leaning over the towpath and has been identified as unsafe therefore, the towpath is closed.
As a result, the towpath will be closed for the duration of the works. To maintain a safe working environment, a signed diversion route will be in place throughout the closure.
A further update will be provided on or before Wednesday 9 July.
