Update 16 July 2026, 10:34am

Navigation still remains restricted between Bridge 17a and Bridge 18 on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal due to a sunken craft.

We are currently awaiting confirmation of a date from our contractors to attend site and remove the vessel.

Navigation remains open to narrowboats, however, wide beam vessel will not be able to pass. 

Any update will be provided on or before Thursday 30 July.

Update 9 July 2026, 2:39pm

Navigation remains restricted between Bridge 17a and Bridge 18 on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal, due to a sunken craft.

We are in communication with contractors to remove the craft however we are currently unable to advise a time frame for its removal.

Navigation remains open to narrow boats, however, wide beam vessels will not be able to pass.

An update will be provided on or before Thursday, 16 July. 

Update 2 July 2026, 9:25am

Navigation remains restricted between Bridge 17a and Bridge 18 on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal, due to a sunken craft.

We are currently waiting attendance from contractors, however due to their high volume of workload they are currently unable to advise a timeframe for its removal.

Navigation remains open to narrow boats, however, wide beam vessels will not be able to pass.

An update will be provided on or before Thursday, 9 July.

Please be advised that navigation is restricted between Bridge 17a and Bridge 18 on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal, due to a sunken craft.

Contractors have been informed however we are currently unable to advise a timeframe for its removal.

Navigation remains open to narrow boats, however, wide beam vessels will not be able to pass
