Lock 6 - Lock gates are being ashed to help water levels recover. - Reopened

Lock 6 is now open as the water levels have recovered over the weekend.

Lock 6 will continue to be closed to navigation overnight to allow the water levels to recover. There will be no movement upstream from Lock 5 to Lock 6 while the water levels are still recovering.

The water levels still have not recovered enough to reopen. Whilst the team were attending to Lock 6, it was discovered that a sinkhole has opened up at Lock 5, which will involve a closure at Lock 5 too. We will be closely monitoring the section and will update the notice with further information once we have repaired the sinkhole and reopened Lock 5 too.

Lock 6 is closed due to the ashing of the lock gates which will help to retain water and allow the water levels to recover. We will closely monitor the water levels and will review the issue tomorrow, allowing the water levels to recover overnight.
