Description

Original 16 June 2026, 1:12pm

A navigation restriction is required to allow essential repair works to take place at Lock 17 Junction Lock, Fradley, on the Trent and Mersey Canal.

A section of wash wall has been found to contain significant voiding and areas of missing brickwork, which has led to washout of the towpath and the formation of potholes. To address this, the wall will be reinstated, lost towpath material replaced and the towpath resurfaced.

Boaters are asked to pass through the area with caution and to follow any instructions given on site. During this period, craft may be instructed to wait for up to 30 minutes while the site is made safe to pass.

Volunteer lock keepers and contractor banksmen will be on site to advise and assist boaters, pedestrians and vehicular traffic.

Thank you for your understanding while these works are completed.
