Descriptions

Update 10 June 2026, 2:02pm

Divers will be carrying out the works on Wednesday 17th June to repair the chain on the gate. A closure will be in place for that day while the repairs are carried out. Please see the Navigation Closure notice for Naburn Lock that we have on. We will update the notice once the repairs have been carried out and completed.

Original 10 June 2026, 9:34am

Passage through Naburn Lock is currently restricted to vessels with a maximum beam of 12ft. This restriction is due to a fault affecting the downstream gates. One of the underwater chains used to operate the gates has become detached, limiting safe operation for wider craft. We are actively making arrangements for divers to carry out underwater repairs. An update will be issued once a confirmed date for the diving operations has been scheduled, expected next week.
