Description
Original 5 June 2026, 1:30pm
The towpath from the Camley Street access will be closed in a North-westerly direction for approximately 35 metres to ensure public safety during temporary works relating to the new footbridge being constructed over the canal.
The new footbridge will create a link between Camley Street and Granary Street. To ensure disruption is limited a pontoon walkway will be provided alongside the towpath to enable cyclists and pedestrians to continue along the canal route.
All of the works will take place away from the canal but from January 2027 the contractor will be lifting in the new bridge deck over the canal under a winter works stoppage for six weeks.
There is a diversion route by way of a 3 metre wide pontoon in the canal alongside the closed towpath. This is to form a safe buffer zone between the works and the public.
A mooring suspension is also in place between 1/7/26 to 4/1/27 for approximately 35 metres northwest of the Camley Street access.
REGThere may be some scope to moor against the pontoon single file.
