Description
Original 22 April 2026, 11:25am
Our contractors will be carrying out geotechnical investigations at Napton Lock 10 from Monday 27 April until Friday 8 May.
During this period, the navigation will remain open, however boaters travelling in either direction should expect delays of up to one hour. This will allow contractors to temporarily pause works and facilitate safe passage through the lock. A contractor pontoon will be present within the navigation, but this will not prevent boats accessing or using the lock.
The works involve taking core samples from both lock chamber walls, along with boreholes, trial pits and dynamic probing on the ground above the towpath chamber wall. A pedestrian safety barrier will be installed and the towpath will remain open for public use throughout.
No works will take place over the weekend or the early May bank holiday (2–4 May).
