Towpath access at Jibbett Lane Bridge

Unfortunately, the access will need to remain closed for a longer period, as the third‑party contractors have identified that the gas main is deeper than originally anticipated. As a result, a temporary works design and additional excavation works are required, meaning that the access will remain closed until 15/05/26.

The access point onto the towpath from Ward Street at Jibbett Lane Bridge will be closed temporarily due to emergency gas pipe repairs.

The towpath itself and the canal will remain open during these works.

Please use the alternative access points at Millfields Bridge and Hendon Avenue to access and leave the towpath.
