Descriptions

Update 26 March 2026, 3:09pm

There is now a second fallen tree blocking the navigation on the approach to the Market Harborough Basin.

Work to clear the first tree has begun, but debris remains in the canal.

The second tree is very large and will require careful planning to remove safely. As this section of canal is in a residential area with no access for large machinery, we are currently exploring all alternative options to reopen the navigation as quickly as possible.

There is currently no access to the basin for travelling boats so please do not attempt to navigate this section of the canal. The last winding hole is at Bowden Hall Bridge 10.

We will provide a further update as soon as more information is available.
