The previously fallen tree has now been removed; however, another tree in the same location has fallen today. We will provide an update once these trees have been cleared. For now, the navigation remains closed.

Fallen tree across towpath and canal
Further information has been received and the fallen tree is blocking the navigation and the towpath area and is located upstream of Birkhouse Lane Road Bridge. The What3Words are ///tight.stews.spirit We will have the tree removed by Wednesday 11th March at 4pm.

A tree trunk and its limbs have fallen across the canal making the navigation restricted. A job to have the tree removed has been raised by contractors and we hope that it will be removed by the end of tomorrow (Wednesday 11th March).
May skippers of all crafts, please approach the area with caution. Please assess the width of the passage before attempting to pass.
