Update 14 April 2026, 12:17pm

Further to the notice below, we apologise for the recent delay to the start of dredging.

This is due to essential engineering modifications required to the dredger.

These were identified to prevent potential damage to the canal bed and were necessary to protect the long‑term condition of the waterway.

Whilst this has resulted in a short delay, the contractor is currently on site setting up the compound.

Dredging is now due to start on the 20th April.

Thank you for your patience.

Original 10 March 2026, 10:10am

Please be advised that mainline dredging will be taking place on the Monmouthshire & Brecon Canal between Llangynidr Bridge 131 and Llangattock Bridge 111 from Monday 16th March for approximately 8 weeks.

The navigation and towpath will remain open but there may be delays to move plant and equipment.

To minimise disruption, our contractors will move out of the navigation whenever necessary to allow boating customers to pass.   Please be aware of increased activity and proceed with care, following any guidance from the staff on site.

You are welcome to contact us at [email protected] or 03030 404040 if you would like to discuss this information with a member of our Customer Service Team.
