Update 24 March 2026, 3:18pm
The ladder at Lock 3, Stanthorne Lock, remains out of service due to damage.
There have been delays in the manufacture of the replacement ladder as these are still being made to order. This has affected the expected installation timeframe. Contractors are currently aiming to carry out the repair during the first week of April.
We apologise for the delay and thank you for your patience while we work to resolve the issue. A further update will be provided on or before Wednesday, 1 April.

The ladder at Lock 3, Stanthorne Lock on the Shropshire Union Canal, remains out of service due to damage.
There have been delays in manufacturing the replacement ladder, as these are made to order, this has impacted the timeframe for installation.
We apologise that the repair is taking longer than originally expected and appreciate your patience while we work to resolve the issue.
A further update will be provided on or before Tuesday, 24 March.

The ladder at Lock 3, Stanthorne Lock on the Shropshire Union Canal, remains out of service due to damage.
Our specialist contractors are currently experiencing a high volume of work, which has delayed their attendance at the site.
We apologise that the repair is taking longer than originally expected and appreciate your patience while we work to resolve the issue.
A further update will be provided on or before Tuesday, 17 March.
Update 5 March 2026, 11:05am
The ladder at Lock 3, Stanthorne Lock, on the Shropshire Union Canal remains out of use due to the damage sustained.
Unfortunately, our specialist contractors have experienced delays in sourcing the materials required to complete the repair to the lock ladder.
We apologise that the repair is taking longer than originally expected.
A further update will be provided on or before Tuesday, 10 March.

The ladder at Lock 3, Stanthorne Lock, on the Shropshire Union Canal is out of use due to the damage sustained.
Contractors have been instructed to attend site and plan a method of repair. Whilst the contractors plan and carry out the repairs, access from the lock to the lock landing, via the ladder will not be available.
We will provide a further update on or before Thursday 5 March 2026.
