Completed: Water levels have started to come down and the Environment Agency has opened Shardlow flood gates. Shardlow Lock and Derwent Mouth Lock have both been opened and boating customers can now proceed as normal. Water levels and conditions remain unchanged. Strong flows continue to make navigation difficult and potentially dangerous, and locks may still be closed. Please do not attempt to navigate this section.

The Environment Agency has closed the flood gates at Shardlow. As part of this process both Shardlow Lock and Derwent Mouth Lock have been locked and this section of the Trent & Mersey Canal is not currently navigable. We will update this notice when further information is received from the Environment Agency.
