Kegworth New Lock 56

Ongoing flooding on the River Soar continues to prevent works at Kegworth from being carried out safely. As a result, the works cannot be completed by the original end date of Friday 6th March.

The navigation closure has therefore been extended until 20th March to allow river levels to reduce and enable an uninterrupted period of work on site.  We will continue to monitor conditions and provide updates as soon as they are available.

A further two weeks are required for this work as river levels remain too high to safely access the site. Further rainfall is forecast, and levels remain above those required for works to resume.

The situation will continue to be monitored, and further updates provided once more information is available or if conditions change.

Kegworth New Lock 56 will be closed from 8am on 2nd February to 4pm on 20th February.

This closure is to carry out essential repairs to the bottom lock gates, improving the lock's operation following the recent replacement of the top gates ahead of the spring boating season.

Unfortunately, these works could not be completed during the original closure due to delays caused by severe weather and flooding conditions. Extending the previous stoppage at Kegworth Lock 56 would have prevented us from delivering the planned lock gate replacement at Gees Lock on the Leicester Line.
