Due to the locks being frozen as a result of recent weather conditions, we are unable to open Locks 1–4 on the Hurleston Lock Flight today. A further update will be provided tomorrow, Tuesday 6 January.

The water levels have now improved between Lock 1 and Lock 4 on the Hurleston Lock Flight . We are in a position to reopen the lock flight from 12:00 PM on Monday, 5 January.

Our teams need to close the towpath between Locks 1 and 4 on the Hurleston lock flight to prevent falls from height and ensure everyone's safety. This follows the breach at Bridge 31A on the Whitchurch By-Pass Bridge, Llangollen Canal, which has reduced water levels and flow in this section of the canal. Navigation through this stretch is also temporarily closed due to the low water levels. You can find more details and updates here
