Descriptions

Our reactive response team attended site today to identify the issue and develop a repair plan. The team will return on Thursday and Friday to carry out the necessary works, with the aim of reopening navigation on Monday afternoon.

Update 16 December 2025, 12:19pm

We are currently aiming for our Reactive Response Team to attend site tomorrow. We will provide a further update as soon as more information becomes available.

Update 12 December 2025, 1:24pm

Our engineer has carried out initial investigations at the lock this week; however, further assessment is required to fully understand the cause of the issue before repairs can be instructed. For safety reasons, the lock will remain closed at this time, as any additional use may lead to further deterioration.

We will be consulting with our Reactive Team to arrange a follow-up visit. A further update will be issued once more information is available.

Update 9 December 2025, 1:26pm

Our engineering team have now inspected the paddle culvert and identified damaged brickwork. Arrangements will be made to carry out the necessary repairs.

We aim to provide a timescale for the repair by Friday and will issue a further update at that time.

Original 8 December 2025, 9:48am

Please be advised that navigation at Lapworth Lock 9 is currently closed due to a void that has formed behind the lock wall. Our engineering team will visit site to assess the situation and undertake necessary safety measures.

We will issue a further update tomorrow, following the engineers' inspection and progress.
