Description

In line with the Government's Simpler Recycling legislation, all refuse sites are required to provide separate facilities for recycling and general waste. Unfortunately, it has not been possible to upgrade the Customer Service Facility refuse site at Knowle Locks to meet these new requirements.

The Trust is constrained by limited space within the existing bin compound, and due to weight restrictions on the access road, the site can only be serviced by the Customer Operations Team. These operational challenges, combined with the introduction of the new legislation, mean that the refuse site at Knowle Locks will close.

A new bin compound has been established at Henwood, approximately 4 km north of Knowle Locks. This facility is located on the offside within a secure Canal & River Trust yard and is accessible by boat only. A designated mooring point has been provided, and signage installed to guide users to the new location.

Please note that the bins at Knowle Locks will be removed on 10 November. From this date onwards, all waste should be disposed of at the Henwood bin compound.

We thank you for your cooperation and understanding as we continue to improve our waste management facilities in line with national recycling requirements.
