All flood gates are now open as the rain was not as heavy as forecast.

Castleford and Ferrybridge are on pedestal and are user operable.

The floodgates will remain open, pending further rainfall. If the decision is taken to close the gates, the notice will be updated accordingly

Original 22 October 2025, 12:20pm

Due to the forecasted heavy rainfall, expected from 20:00 tonight and to be torrential from 12:00am, the decision has been taken to close the following floodgates this afternoon, with Leeds Dock Flood Gate being closed at 16:00, due to anticipated high water levels.

Please check the Strong Stream Warning board and marker at each flood lock before entering the river section of navigation. River levels are being closely monitored and flood gates and locks reopened when river levels allow.
