Update 3 October 2025, 10:08am

We are pleased to inform you that our Asset Engineers have now agreed upon a repair design in collaboration with the Regional Reactive Team.

Working alongside our contractor, they will begin repair works on the top gate on Wednesday, 8th October.

Further updates regarding progress will be provided on Thursday, 9th October.

We appreciate your patience and understanding while these essential works are carried out.

Update 29 September 2025, 11:26am

The Regional Regional Reactive Team working along side our contractor are mobilising to site Monday 29th Sept, with the view to set up site in readiness to install Top Stop planks on Wednesday 1st Oct to dewater the Lock head.

We'll have access on Thursday 2nd Oct to the damaged tow path top gate, so the gate can be accessed thoroughly by our Asset Engineers & Reactive Team to decide on any possible temporary repairs design.

Updates to follow Thursday 2nd Oct assessment.

Engineers are continuing to undertake further investigations this week to determine if repairs are possible. A further update will be provided on Tuesday 30th September 2025. The lock remains closed and unnavigable.

There has been a boat strike on the upper gate of Old Ford Lock, Lock 8, on the Regent's Canal.

The damage renders the lock unsafe to operate, and thus the lock will be closed until a repair can be undertaken.
