Our engineers have removed the overhanging masonry blocks from the top of the bridge and have installed concrete barriers on bridge to prevent vehicle access, allowing us to re-open our towpath.
Navigation remains closed at Bridge 31 whilst our specialist team complete the removal of the masonry blocks from the navigation.
We understand this closure may cause inconvenience and appreciate your patience and cooperation during this time.
A further update will be provided on Wednesday, 10 September.

The towpath and navigation is currently closed at Bridge 31, Stone Chimney Bridge on the Lancaster Canal due to a vehicle strike.
Our engineers have visited the site and assessed the damage and currently working on a method of repair.
An update will be provided on Friday 5 September.
