Our contractors have removed the remaining masonry blocks from the towpath, with the team continuing to work on a method of repair for the bridge. Unfortunately, due to other arising emergency works we are not able to provide a start date for these repairs just yet.
Please note this towpath closure only affects the section of towpath directly under the bridge, where there is overhanging masonry. Pedestrians can still access the towpath by using the steps at the side of the bridge to cross Barden Lane and rejoin the towpath on the other side.
This closure does not affect navigation.
A further update will be provided once a scheduled repair is planned.

Our contractors are still working to complete the removal of the remaining masonry blocks from the towpath while working on repairs of the bridge to ensure it is safe.

Following a recent road traffic incident, the towpath remains temporarily closed.
Our contractors are currently on site conducting essential safety inspections of the bridge to ensure it is safe.
We understand this closure may cause inconvenience and appreciate your patience and cooperation during this time, while checks are being carried out.
