We will be carrying out essential repairs to re-fix the loose metal bumper at Lock 40 on Monday 1st September.
The site will be set up in the morning, including fencing off the area, dewatering the lock, and installing lifting equipment. Once this is complete, the repair works will begin.
Barring any unforeseen issues, we aim to have the work completed and navigation reopened by the afternoon the same day.

Please be advised that navigation at Lock 40 (Summit Lock) is currently closed.
This closure is necessary due to a loose metal bumper located at the top of the lock. Specialist lifting equipment and a qualified team are required to safely remove the bumper. Until this work is completed, there is a risk that boats travelling upstream could become caught, presenting a significant safety hazard.
We are working to remove the bumper as quickly as possible to allow navigation to resume safely and promptly.
A further update will be provided on or before Monday 1st September.
