Lock 39 to Lock 51

Water levels between Lock 39 and 51 continue to improve, and we expect to be in a position to reopen this section to navigation again on Monday 8th September.

Please note that the navigation closure has been amended and now only applies to the section between Lock 39 and Lock 51. The section between Lock 36 and Lock 39 is now open to navigation again.

Water levels remain below safe navigation limits between Lock 39 and Lock 51. However, with rainfall forecast overnight and our team continuing to run water, we are hope that levels will begin to recover.

The situation will be reviewed again on Friday 5th September.

Please be advised that the section of the South Stratford Canal between Lock 36 and Lock 51 remains closed to navigation due to insufficient water levels.

Our operatives continue to manage the situation and are attempting to improve levels by running water through locks. However, conditions are not yet safe to permit navigation.

The situation will be reviewed again on Wednesday 3rd September, to assess whether levels have improved.

Please be advised that the stretch of the South Stratford Canal between Lock 36 and Lock 51 will remain closed to navigation. Water levels in this section have not yet recovered sufficiently to allow safe passage.

We will review the situation again on Monday to assess whether levels have improved over the weekend.
