An underwater obstruction has been identified within the lock chamber. Although the emergency response team attended site and attempted to remove it, the size and nature of the obstruction prevented them from making the lock safe. This obstruction is currently causing boats to become hung up, posing a significant safety risk. As a result, the lock has been temporarily closed for health and safety reasons. The local operations team will attend site tomorrow to carry out a full assessment. Please do not attempt to use the lock until further notice. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
