We will be carrying out essential works to replace the top and bottom lock gates at Turnerwood Lock 37 on the Chesterfield Canal. The gates have reached the end of their serviceable life, and replacement is necessary to ensure the continued safe and reliable operation of the navigation. A full navigational and towpath closure will be required to carry out these works. The closure will be in place from 1 September to 20 October 2025. These works are being brought forward as resources during the intensive maintenance period are fully allocated, and the urgent replacement of the gates cannot be delayed. We thank our customers for their understanding and cooperation while these essential works are completed.
