Navigation Closure - Oxford Canal, Grants Lock; Lock 30, Bodicote

We are pleased to share that work on Grant's Lock has been completed ahead of schedule. The lock will reopen and be fully operational from 12:00 PM on 24th June 2025

To carry out essential repairs and replace the balance team, we'll be closing the navigation fully — with no assisted passage — on Monday 23rd and Tuesday 24th June. We understand this may cause some disruption and appreciate your patience.

We're pleased to let you know that the navigation is expected to fully reopen on Wednesday 25th June.

Please be advised, our Local Operations Team will be providing assisted passage for two hours, between 10 am and 12 pm daily, starting from Friday 13th June.

A programme for repair to the damaged bottom gate is currently being planned, updates on repair will follow.

The assisted passage timetable will be left open for review and updated as and when local resources may affect its delivery, or the safety of assisted passage is compromised.

Due to a boat strike of the bottom gate the balance beam has been broken meaning the lock is not safe for use and locked off accordingly.

Engineers due to attend site to assess damage first thing in the morning.
